Job Advert: Lifeline Operator – 24/7 Control Centre (RCT)
Location: Rhondda Cynon Taf (office-based control centre – exact location confirmed on application)
Employment Type: Temporary (urgent cover)
Start Date: 23 November 2025
End Date: 31 December 2025 (high chance of extension)
Hours: Full-time 37 hours per week on a 24/7 rolling shift pattern (includes days, nights, weekends & bank holidays)
Salary: PAYE: £14.13+ per hour | Umbrella: £18.51 per hour

Do you stay calm under pressure and genuinely care about helping vulnerable people?
We urgently needLifeline Operators to join the 24/7 control centre team in Rhondda Cynon Taf. You’ll be the first point of contact when someone presses their pendant or pulls their cord – reassuring elderly and vulnerable residents, dispatching mobile responders, and handling out-of-hours council emergencies.

What You’ll Do

• Answer lifeline alarms and out-of-hours emergencies 24/7
• Make proactive wellbeing calls to isolated residents
• Prioritise multiple calls, follow clear scripts, and decide the right action fast
• Update client records, monitor equipment, and liaise with responders, social care teams, and emergency services
• Work closely with the daytime contact centre and installation teams

Shift Pattern

• 24/7 rolling rota (8- or 12-hour shifts covering earlies, lates, nights, weekends & bank holidays)
• Full training given – no previous control room experience required

We’re Looking For

• Excellent listening and communication skills – you’ll be talking to worried or confused people every shift
• Ability to stay calm in emergencies
• Good IT skills (you’ll be using several systems at once)
• A genuine desire to help vulnerable adults stay safe and independent at home
• Flexibility to work the full 24/7 rota (this is essential)

Essential Requirements

• Eligibility to work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain – we can process quickly)
• Live within reasonable commuting distance of RCT
