Job Advert: Grounds Maintenance Operative
Location: Abergavenny
Employment Type: Temporary – long-term sickness cover
Start Date: 8 December 2025
Duration: Minimum 12 weeks (very likely to run longer)
Hours: 37 hours per week (Mon–Fri)
Salary: PAYE: £12.85+ per hour | Umbrella: £16.62 per hour

The Job – Keep Monmouthshire Looking Beautiful
Hands-on outdoor grounds maintenance role covering Abergavenny, Monmouth, Chepstow, Caldicot and surrounding villages:

• Grass cutting (ride-on & pedestrian mowers)
• Strimming, hedge cutting, shrub bed maintenance
• Sports pitch marking & upkeep
• Litter picking, bin emptying, fly-tip clearance
• Planting, weeding, basic landscaping
• Occasional cemetery duties and emergency response (flooding, snow clearance, storm damage)

You Need

• Previous grounds maintenance, landscaping or gardening experience
• Physically fit and happy working outdoors in all weathers
• Full UK driving licence (essential – you’ll drive council vans)
• Trailer licence (BE) is a bonus but not essential
• Reliable, hardworking and take pride in your work
