What You’ll Do:
- Complete daily street cleansing tasks as per contract specifications, following the Daily Route Schedules.
- Drive Council vehicles safely, adhering to the Driver Handbook and all health and safety regulations.
- Perform litter picking, sweeping hard surfaces, and emptying bins to maintain a clean and sustainable environment.
- Report incidents, accidents, or faults, and attend required training courses as instructed.
- Undertake additional cleansing duties as directed by the Manager (Refuse & Cleansing), including potential weekend or bank holiday shifts.
- A motivated individual with a full, current UK driving licence and the stamina for walking, bending, lifting, and carrying duties.
- Experience in refuse or cleansing services is desirable, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good customer care skills, a positive attitude, and flexibility to work a rostered shift pattern (7:30 - 15:30 Mon-Thurs, 7:30 - 15:00 Fri), including weekends and bank holidays if needed.
- Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to Newport, Newport.
- Knowledge of the Newport City area and willingness to promote equal opportunities are essential.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
