Employment Type: Temporary (16 Weeks)
Hours: 37 hours per week (Hybrid: 4 days office, 1 day work from home)
Start Date: 29th September 2025
Pay Rate: PAYE: £13.17/hour | Umbrella: £16.72/hour

About the Role:
Are you passionate about empowering parents and carers to build stronger families? Join a dedicated Social Services team within the Children & Young Peoples Service as a Families First Parenting Practitioner. This rewarding role focuses on delivering positive parenting support, leading programmes, and working collaboratively to improve outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver positive parenting support, advice, and programmes in partnership with families and agencies.
  • Lead and co-facilitate parenting programmes with internal colleagues and external partners.
  • Manage a caseload of targeted 1-1 interventions, underpinned by assessments and Family Plans.
  • Conduct assessments of need and risk to inform casework planning, aligning with service and national standards.
  • Use Motivational Interviewing and other tools to engage parents and carers to improve family outcomes.
  • Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to meet service needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide reports as required.
  • Participate in meetings, reviews, professional supervision, and appraisals.
  • Promote key Positive Parenting messages to professionals, agencies, and families.
  • Contribute to the Team Plan and service performance improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with council policies, including Equal Opportunity, Health and Safety, and Financial Regulations.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS and 5 years of references/work history.
  • Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Social Care Wales Registration (required upon offer acceptance, not essential at application stage).
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in social care.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and partnership-working skills.
  • A flexible, empathetic approach to supporting families.
